But still........................................................................ http://www.fsasj.org/images/sad%20man%20at%20table.jpg

This is the condition with 99% of the workforce today. We all run behind money, fame, luxury, achievements, etc. but actually forget the most important part that adds life to our life...."RELATIONS".

We actually fail to manage our work & life, which turns up in undesired endings.

Now this issue is seen by employers as major fault in employees performance & companies have started taking steps to help employees to maintain the balance.

Some simple ways one can balance work & life are:

1. What do you really want?

We leak energy and become drained and frustrated when we get into a pattern of pleasing others and living in accordance with their standards rather than our own. Are you clear of your motives and your underlying passions and purpose in life?

What are your values and are they in sync with your actions? Are you being truly authentic and speaking your truth? Getting clarity on what you truly want from your life is the first critical step to leading a more balanced and meaningful existence.

2. Who are you surrounding yourself with?

Are you stimulated by your peers, colleagues and clients? Do you have true friends who have your best interests at heart? Are you in the right environment to best utilise your talents and gifts? Do you have a personal development plan or life/business coach to provide objective guidance?

3. Are you thinking the right way?

There is substantial evidence that the way we think can have a profound and a lasting effect on our mood and motivation levels. If you are one of life's pessimists then you will need to re-programme your thoughts to expect the best not the worst and to swap those habits for more encouraging self talk. Focus on what has been going well rather than how far you are from your goals. See obstacles as opportunities, remain flexible and open to possibilities. Recognizing and being grateful for what you have is a great way of getting things in perspective.

4. Listen to your body.

Self care is essential to restore and maintain well-being and balance
Are you sleeping well?
What are your eating habits?
How would you describe your energy levels?
Taking time to exercise and look after yourself is an essential component to balanced living.Listen to your intuition as it never lets us down and provides the subtle nudges to move us in the direction that is right for us.

5. Set healthy boundaries.

Real life and business is interconnected but that does not mean you need to give up your privacy. You need boundaries so you can feel generous without feeling depleted and available without feeling drained.

6. Nourish your Soul.

Review your emotional and spiritual health. Do you need to forgive someone or let something go?
Are you learning something new?
Are you fully engaged in your work?
Are you connected?
Is there something you were born to do?

Dual-Purpose Work and Life Training

Dual-purpose learning is education that applies both to learners’ on-the-job lives and to their off-the-job lives. It has proven to be the quickest way to accomplish the organization’s most critical work objectives and the individual’s work-life balance objectives simultaneously.

We can view dual-purpose learning both as employee development and as a benefit. It is an issue for everyone in the organization, from executives to new hires. It is used in recruiting and for driving productivity. Because of this multifaceted HR and productivity training impact, senior executives at every level have initiated enterprise-wide work-life programs.Implementation of work-life balance training has been steered by vice presidents of HR and HR generalists, chief learning officers and trainers, work-life professionals, and benefits specialists.Human resource managers who implement successful work-life training programs throughout their management ranks accomplish two major bottom-line goals. First, they increase the retention, commitment, and productivity of the firm’s most valuable people asset, its managers and supervisors. Second, the managers and supervisors reflect a new tool set and language that produce a much more positive view of the organization at all levels. This more positive view has a cascading impact on the attitude, morale, productivity, and customer-service levels of all employees.

For the individual and organization to get the full benefit of developing these dual-purpose work and life skills, you need to make the learning of such skills a part of your organization’s stated strategy.Once you make the strategy commitment, implementation can be relatively easy. The HR professional can take the role of change-agent champion who secures commitment to the strategy.

Tips for Being Happy at Work

1) See happiness as the only option
It is a hard to digest fact that every one of us cannot get an employer of choice. So, we are bound to work on a pre-specified working conditions, thus we can choose to be happy at work. So, think positively about your work. Dwell on the aspects of your work you like. Avoid negative people and gossip. Find coworkers you like and enjoy and spend your time with them. Your choices at work largely define your experience. You can choose to be happy at work.

2) If you don't get the things you love, love the things you get
Each of us has got some talent, skills, which can be applied at the work place. Boring tasks can be made more interesting just by adding our creativity. This will make us love our job. There is always something that we enjoy and love doing everyday. If we do something we love every single day, our current job won't seem so bad, rather it would be made more interesting, which every other person, would love to do.

3) Be your own mentor
No other person is interested in developing our personality. If we will remember this fact every second of our work, then it would be easier for us to work on our self. Why to be dependent on others for nurturing our self? We can also do that. Only we are the person who would gain the most by developing our self professionally. Thus, we should take charge of our own growth; March to the music of your personally developed plan and goals. You have the most to gain from growing - and the most to lose, if you stand still. Life is of us only, so only we should be responsible for its growth and development.

4) Give and receive feedback
“ I never get any feedback from my Boss ”— We are in a habit of making these types of complaints as well. But take some time to think that have you ever asked for that. In today's world, if you won't demand, you won't have. Many of us have also a thinking of receiving only positive feedback. We will have to change this too. Feedback means a measure of how you are doing on; so why scared of getting some negatives? Be ready to receive more negatives, and by nature be positive. The more negatives, you will get, the more hard you will work, and will increase your own skills. So, if you are getting only positives, be cautious: Is your boss really watching you??

5) Never say YES, when you are not sure.
“You told me that this would be done by now, but you didn't kept your commitment! This is also a great cause of stress at work. So, again who is responsible for it? YOU. Yes and NO are the two small words, which need deep thinking and care. Many employees spend more time making excuses for failing to keep a commitment, and worrying about the consequences of not keeping a commitment, than they do performing the tasks promised. Create a system of organization and planning that enables you to assess your ability to complete a requested commitment. Don't volunteer if you don't have time. If your workload is exceeding your available time and energy, make a comprehensive plan to ask the boss for help and resources.

6) Eat positive, drink positive, think positive
Gossip, negative conversations, slang languages etc, are main causes of negatives of life. If you want to be happy at work, you have the only option, i.e. to be positive, and even in dream to not think about any negative. No matter how positively you feel, negative people have a profound impact on your psyche. Avoid the negative people and negative thoughts.
